Just one month after making the “most admired companies” list in Fortune magazine, IMS’s performance is again being recognized – this time by BusinessWeek as one of the 50 best-performing U.S. companies. IMS ranks 37th on this year’s list.
This is the second consecutive year that IMS has been selected by BusinessWeek editors as a top performer in our sector of the Standard & Poor’s 500 index of companies. The publication ranks companies on two key metrics: return on investment and sales growth over the past three years.
“I’m particularly proud that IMS is again on this list,” says Dave Carlucci, chairman and CEO, “because it recognizes leading companies with a long-term vision and strategy that, as BusinessWeek puts it, ‘spell the difference between companies that not only survive, but thrive.’”
In its brief profile of IMS, BusinessWeek noted that “IMS data, which helps increase efficiency, is even more precious in tough times.”
To select this year’s star performers, the magazine’s editors first ranked companies by sector, enabling them to identify companies that are the best performers relative to their peers.
“Today’s winners are those companies that can manage risk,” according to the magazine. “Out-of-the-box thinking is a hallmark of the companies in this year’s rankings.”
